Maple Tree Leaves

Maple Tree Leaves

I am playing catch-up on my monthly Sketchbox art supplies with this mix-media 4” x 6” sketch of the backyard maple tree leaves.

I love the names of the colors. The paper is smooth, and the colors do not bleed-through.

Backyard Maple in Autumn

Our Backyard Maple in Autumn

I started this painting last year in Autumn and set it aside to paint my watercolor tree cards. By the time I got back to painting it, all the leaves had fallen of the tree, so I have been putting the leaves back in the tree with watercolor and gouache paint. I used Arches 300 lb watercolor block paper. I like using this heavier weight watercolor block paper, as it can take a lot of layers of paint.
